a new cat

The grand daughter has been wanting a baby kitten for months now. We are not getting another animal in this house, please,no not here. But the other grandmother suddenly has a gray tabby kitten at her house. Ownership is shared by the grand daughter and her uncle, who is only 11 or so. She is in heaven. She could not wait to go see her mother, right, the cat Friday evening. We told her to be sure and say hello before she went to see the cat. She said OK. but she had to be reminded. SHe was like a tornado trying to tell people hello while getting to the door without her 1 year old (half) sister following her out the door. Her PawPaw went out with her and that was all she needed to be as happy as a clam. The one year old was out too ...CAT!! EAT!! she was "chasing" the cat holding the food bowl and saying CAT EAT...too cute. The grand daughter would come in periodically to be sure each person had seen the cat and she came to tell us good bye when we left. She was grinning like crazy. She was soooo happy. Thank you other grand mother. You have made her day.

crying for mawmaw at bedtime

I got a call last night at 8:25. Mr grand daughter was at other grandmother's with her mother so that she could go to the dentist this morning at 8:30. MOther is not working so it stands to reason that she would be the most appropriate person to take her to the dentist. Any way, at 8:25, I get a call. The girl is in tears. She is missing me. We talk for some time. It turns out that she is sleepy and no one will go lay down with her in the bed. Beasts!! It only takes about 10 to 15 minutes to get her to sleep on a problem night. We turn the lights out at 8:30 and she goes to sleep. But you have to lay down with her, because she is scared to go by herself. How easy is that??. Just go do it for GOd's sake. I have told her mother to keep her schedule. Now this was a school night and she was letting her lay on the couch. JusT go lay down for a few minutes. Jeez. She even sniffled during the time she was telling me about they fact that there is a new kitten at the house. She was afraid it would run away b ecause it is going to live outside and it only has a towel to live on, no box. I told her that cats will come back to where they are fed and not to worry about it. That darn cat better be there this morning when she gets up.

where does the time go?

OK, maybe I am taking in too much caffeine in the evening. I do drink green tea for supper and with my night meds. I don't want to think this is too much caffeine. I don't want to not drink it.I like it, it is refreshing. I could drink water and am going to have to try it to see if it makes a difference. I see my clock way too often during the night. Now last night or this morning in particular at 3am, the girl had an itchy spot that needed attention. That brought attention to other itchy spots, then to her dreams, then to something she was laughing at....oh no, don't really wake up.... go back to sleep baby, lay down, baby. Thank you lord, she did lay down and go back to real sleep, So did we after a fashion. Then in an instant it was time for the alarm to go off. I swear I had just closed my eyes and now they are open again. I am not getting enough REM sleep, or something. I should have had 2 good hours of comfy snoozing. I don't feel like I did. I just feel awake enough to look at the net and mail etc. WHy does the clock speed up when you are sleeping. What evil mastermind has done this to me/us? It can't just be that my son is ill and is going through a counter-adjustment period, my 5 year old grand daughter who lives with us is precocious and requires quite a bit of interaction time, my spouse and I are getting older, me faster than him evidently, and both have jobs to attend to, we are still waiting to finish remodeling our kitchen, we need to have a major garage sale and are collecting items for that with no real place to put the items until the day of the sale, we just got over several days of no power thanks to downed trees from Hurricane Gustav,,, let's see, is that all?
